On May 25th, after 25 years of being my auntie in my head...Oprah said her farewell's to The Oprah Winfrey show.
I had a little get together at my house for this epic last episode and had been preparing myself for the loss for months. Oprah's show is as old as I am, so truthfully, her leaving daytime telivison is a HUGE full circle moment for me. Having grown up as an only child in a single parent household, Ms. Winfrey was a very big part of my day to day life as a child, teen and young adult. Like clockwork...school would end at 2:30 and by 3 i'd be on my couch learning about the world and it's people through her show.

As a viewer I couldn't have asked for more from that last episode. I love how she spent the hour connecting with us and sharing some of her life lessons...
"God is love and God is life. And your life is always speaking to you"
"Be still and know it"
"You alone are enough"
By the end of the show, tears were shed, drinks were flowing and I felt like I lost someone I loved. Might sound intense to some, but avid fans like myself know exactly what I mean. Luckily, her reign continues just on another channel. OWN network is now a mainstay on my flatscreen, and even though I am enjoying the programing... 3 o'clock will never be the same.
